It is understood that sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, commonly known as "methyl" (CMC), can be used in ceramic tile bodies, glaze pastes, and flower glazes. The use of CMC in ceramic brick bodies can increase the plasticity of sediment, facilitate the formation of the body, and increase the flexural strength of the body. It is a good body reinforcement agent; CMC is used in glaze paste and flower glaze, which can be used as a binder for suspension, coagulation, and water retention.
Methyl is a necessary product for body and glaze in ceramic production. Choosing methyl is crucial for the quality of finished ceramic products. It is worth mentioning that Shandong Weihong's methyl products mainly use refined cotton, chloroacetic acid, sodium hydroxide, and ethanol as raw materials, and use the solvent method process to conduct alkalization and etherification reactions. The solvent is ethanol (i.e. alcohol), which generates alkaline products, without pollution throughout the process.
